KUALA LUMPUR: THIRTEEN PRODUCTS SOLD AT KEDAI RAKYAT 1MALAYSIA (KR1M) HAVE BEEN TAKEN OFF THE SHELVES DUE TO NON-COMPLIANCE WITH THE LAW.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said yesterday the products were withdrawn for failing to follow product composition and labelling requirements , and not because of their safety for consumption.The products were fresh milk, condensed milk, sweetened condensed creamer, oyster sauce, fruit jam, canned chicken curry, mango cordial, ghee, groundnuts, creamy peanut butter, crunchy peanut butter, crispy peanut butter and canned sardines in tomato sauce (155g).
“The ministry conducted checks at 30 plants supplying to KR1M, as well as taking 93 food samples from the shops for analysis.”
The checks, he said, involved the verification of product formulation, raw materials, quality control, production processes and the validation of the final product.
He said a dialogue with all the suppliers of KR1M was held on Friday in an effort to increase and ensure the compliance with food legislation in the country.
“The ministry will update the results of checks on KR1M products frequently. We will not compromise on food safety.
“We also hope to get cooperation from the public in reporting any concerns.”
